MOT Testing in High Wycombe, Marlow & Maidenhead

Independent MOT Testing Centre

We opened our MOT testing centre in January 2018. This means we can offer car and van MOT testing whilst you wait to customers in High Wycombe, Marlow, Maidenhead and surrounding areas.

Please note that with the coronavirus situation we are currently unable to provide MOTs whilst you wait but we will offer this service again as soon as the restrictions are lifted.

You can also book in advance and MOT testing is available on Saturday mornings. Our MOTs are £32.50 and we send our customers an annual reminder to advise them when their annual MOT test is due.

Our fully qualified technicians carry out your MOT test on site, which means you can enjoy a coffee and free Wi-Fi in our comfortable waiting area whilst you wait. The images below show our modern, fully-fitted MOT testing centre.

In addition and in conjunction with your MOT, we offer an optional free of charge seasonal vehicle check. This includes:

  • Checking your car’s battery condition
  • Antifreeze strength and level
  • Windscreen washer fluid strength and level
  • Tyre depths and condition
  • Oil level and correct type

Why and how often do I need to book MOT testing?

Once your car reaches three years old you need to book it in for an MOT test. After that, you must book an MOT every year. The MOT test checks whether your car meets the road safety and environmental standards. To confirm or check the due date of your MOT test, simply visit the Vehicle MOT page of the Government website at www.gov.uk/check-mot-status

What parts are checked during an MOT test?

You can avoid nearly half of faults found during MOT checks by simple, regular maintenance. It’s therefore worth keeping an eye on things like lights, tyres etc. before you book your MOT so your vehicle has a better chance of passing. In other words, prevention is better than cure.

The test will check the vehicle horn, battery, electrics, steering, suspension, brakes, tyres and wheels, seat belts, exhaust system, fuels system emissions, mirrors, wipers and windscreen.

What happens if my car fails the MOT?

If your vehicle fails the MOT test, you must fixed the faulty items within 10 days. You can then get it re-tested. However, If the faults found are considered dangerous, the vehicle is considered unroadworthy and hence illegal.

Can the Marlow Garage fix the faults if any are found during the MOT test?

Yes, we can. Moreover, depending upon the items highlighted, we endeavour to ensure your car passes the re-test as soon as possible so you are back on the road again. For large fault repairs, we offer loan cars where possible.

Many of our clients combine their annual MOT and service to limit it to one visit. If the dates work out, it’s therefore a good way to save time.
